Labor and Delivery
The mother may choose whom she wishes to stay with her.
We encourage only one or two people, although
exceptions will be made at the mother’s request.
Visiting Guidelines After Delivery
Fathers, grandparents and siblings of the baby will be allowed to visit anytime. The baby may be in the room while visitors
are present, if the parents wish. Visitors will be asked to wash
their hands, especially before holding the baby. Visitors with
contagious illnesses or infections will not be permitted to visit.
At the mother’s request, exceptions to the posted visiting
hours will be allowed.
OB Restricitions-Effective November through April
Due to the prevelance of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), OB visiting will be restricted:
- No children under age eight, except siblings, will be permitted.
- All visitors must be without evidence of upper respiratory infection or other illness.
Rest Periods
The process of childbirth is very stressful. Most mothers find
they need extra rest. We would like to encourage you to rest
as much as you need. Tell your nurse and arrangements will
be made to provide you with the quiet time you need.
Feeding Times
1. Babies at Meeker County Memorial Hospital are generally
fed on a demand schedule, which means they usually eat
every two to three hours. If you desire a different schedule,
please let us know.
2. At night, your baby may stay in the nursery all night.
Or you may choose to have the baby brought to you for
night-time feedings.
3. “Rooming-in” with your baby is also available. When
rooming in, the nurse will care for your baby in your
room. You are not expected to handle all the care for
your baby unless you want to.
4. If you have questions regarding breastfeeding please talk to your nurse.
